In this talk, I will give a survey on the recent progress on the Prasad conjecture, including the case when the local field $F$ is of characteristic 0 and of characteristic $p$ and the case when the coefficient of the representation is of characteristic $\ell$ where $\ell$ is a prime number different from $p$.
